Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior representative said the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
